Four Rocks Qualify for State Powerlifting Meet

- Four SSC Rockachaw powerlifters qualified to compete in the 4A State competition by finishing in the top third in their weight classes during Friday's 4A South State Powerlifting meet at South Pike High School in Magnolia.

Junior Chris Tran, lifting in the 114 pound weight class, grabbed first place with a total lift of 760 pounds, including a 250 pound squat, a 160 pound bench, and a 350 pound dead lift.

In the 132 pound weight class, junior Dylan Drake lifted a total of 825 pounds for second place. His lifts included a 290 pound squat, a 185 pound bench press, and a dead lift of 350 pounds.

Junior Stephen Keel took third place in the 181 pound weight class. He lifted 430 pounds in the squat, maxed at 250 pounds in the bench, and lifted 435 pounds in the dead lift for a weight total of 1115 pounds.

In the 308 pound weight class, junior J C Brignone snagged second place by a mere five pound advantage. J C's squat was 405 pounds, he benched 315, and had a 535 pound dead lift for a total lift of 1255 pounds.

Also competing at South State were juniors Ravi Varma, who finished fourth in the 132 pound weight class; and Ryan Stechmann, who placed fourth in the 148 pound weight class.
