Rockachaws Win South State Powerlifting Title

18 March 2006 - The SSC Rockachaws scored 50 points to claim first place at the Class 4A South State Championship Powerlifting Meet, held Saturday, March 18, in the Blaize Gymnasium at Saint Stanislaus College in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.

Team totals, in order, are:
1st - Saint Stanislaus - 50 points
2nd - Port Gibson - 33 points
3rd - Mendenhall - 31 points
4th - Quitman - 30 points
5th - East Central - 13 points
6th - Petal - 12 points
7th - Lawrence County - 11 points
8th - Wayne County - 9 points
9th - Pearl River Central - 8 points
10th - McComb - 6 points
11th(tie) - Brookhaven - 3 points
11th(tie) - Stone County - 3 points
13th - Florence - 2 points
Athletes from Poplarville, Saint Martin, and Vancleave High School also participated in the meet.

The top three competitors in each weight class, determined by the total of the best of three attempts in the squat, bench press, and dead lift, will go on to compete in the State Meet in April. They are:
