10 April 2006 - Three Saint Stanislaus College weightlifters not only were champions in their weight classes at the 2006 Mississippi 4A State Championship Powerlifting Meet, but set state records in their events to boot. Senior Chris Tran, lifting in the 114 pound weight class, set new 4A records in the squat (380), bench press (185), and the dead lift (415) as well as in the lift total. His squat and total lift broke the all class Mississippi records for his weight. |
In the 275 pound weight class, junior Caleb McQueen outlifted his nearest challenger by over 200 pounds. Caleb set a new 4A record of 365 pounds in the bench press and a new 4A total lift record of 1625 pounds. At 290 pounds, senior J C Brignone was the lightest man lifting in his weight class of 308. He set a 4A record of 360 pounds in the bench and a total lift record of 1615 pounds,solidifying his win with a 590 pound dead lift. All told, the Rockachaws scored 29 points and placed third in the state meet. |
